This website is a static, informational site. It does not use cookies, does not run analytics or advertising scripts, and does not embed third-party widgets that track you across the web. The only personal data involved is (1) the small amount of technical data every web server logs automatically, and (2) whatever you choose to send me directly if you get in touch.
When you visit this website, the hosting server automatically records information that your browser transmits, including: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, IP address, and the date and time of the request. This happens as a standard, automatic part of running any web server — it is not a tracking mechanism I've added.
Purpose and legal basis: to keep the site secure, stable, and diagnose technical problems, and to get a rough sense of whether the site is being visited at all (e.g. total requests per day). I do not use this data to identify individual visitors, build profiles, or for any marketing purpose. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, reliable operation of the website).
Retention: these logs are kept for a limited period (no more than a few weeks) and then deleted automatically, unless a longer retention is needed to investigate a specific security incident.
The "Book a call" links on this site open an email to martinez@joelesli.com using your own email program; the site itself never sees or stores what you send. If you contact me by email or phone, I process the personal data you provide — such as your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message — solely to respond to your inquiry and, where relevant, to prepare or carry out a contract with you.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (my legitimate interest in responding to inquiries directed to me).
I don't use this data for any other purpose, and I don't pass it on to third parties unless required by law. It's deleted once it's no longer needed for these purposes, taking into account statutory retention obligations under German commercial and tax law (e.g. §§ 257 HGB, 147 AO) for anything tied to an invoice or contract, which can require retention of up to 10 years.
This site uses the typefaces Instrument Sans, Instrument Serif, and JetBrains Mono. To protect your privacy, these fonts are hosted locally on this website's own server rather than loaded from Google Fonts or any other third-party server. No connection is made to an external font provider, and no data about your visit is sent there.
This website does not set cookies, does not use Google Analytics or any similar tool, and does not embed social media plugins (like, share, or follow buttons) that track you before you click them. Links to LinkedIn or other external sites open in a new tab only if you click them; once there, that site's own privacy policy applies.
This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS (TLS) connection to protect data in transit between your browser and the server.
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectify (Art. 16), erase (Art. 17), restrict the processing of (Art. 18), receive a copy of (Art. 20), and object to the processing of (Art. 21) your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, just email me at martinez@joelesli.com.
